Adventure is opening doors and jumping through them

I have my own definition of adventure.  I’m not a thrill seeker. I’m not the guy who’s going to travel half-way around the world to bungee jump off the tallest bridge. I'd rather hike up a hill than ski down it. I don’t see adventure in terms of physical challenge, although I often encounter physical challenges when I am on adventures. In my opinion, adventure is about opening doors. Adventure, to me, is about leaving behind what is familiar and going off into the unknown. I want to see things I’ve never seen before, things I may not understand. I want to challenge my mind. Sometimes, to do that, you have to go very, very far away from home, to places where there are no real safety nets to protect you. But that is the point. Challenging places work your mind. They make you change. Then, when you do come home again, it all looks so strange and unfamiliar that adventure can be going around the corner for a cup of coffee.
